Malaysia slaps anti-dumping duties on steel coil products from Vietnam, China

The Malaysian government has imposed anti-dumping duties on imports of pre-painted, painted or colour coated steel coil originated or exported from China and Vietnam, Bernama news agency reported.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Malaysian government has imposed anti-dumping duties on imports of pre-painted, painted or colour coated steel coil originated or exported from China and Vietnam, Bernama news agency reported.

The duties will be effective for five years, beginning on July 20, 2021.

In a statement released on July 21, the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry said the decision was made after the completion of an administrative review initiated on January 22, based on a petition filed by CSC Steel Sdn Bhd on behalf of the domestic industry.

Products by manufacturers from China would be imposed a 52.1 percent duty while those from Vietnam’s Maruichi Sun Steel Joint Stock Company, NS Bluescope Vietnam Ltd, Nam Kim Steel Joint Stock and others, would be slapped with 12.06 percent, 34.85 percent, 0.06 percent and 34.85 percent, respectively, it said.

෴ The ministry said the decision was taken in accordance with the Countervailing and Anti-dumping Duties Act 1993 and the Countervailing and Anti-dumping Duties Regulation 1994./.
