Kuala Lumpur (VNA)🐎 – Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has said the economic and trade ties between Malaysia and China are growing, and Chinese investment in the Southeast Asian country will continue going up in the future.
Malaysian news agency Bernama quoted Najib, who is on a six-day visit to China, as saying at a meeting with Chinese businesspeople on November 1 that China poured nearly 2 billion USD into Malaysia last year. The figure is expected to rise, considering the growing trend of Chinese investment in Malaysia over the past five years.
The PM also noted that two-way trade hit 100 billion USD last year and China remains Malaysia’s largest trade partner since 2009.
During the Malaysian PM’s visit, Malaysian and Chinese firms plan to sign more than 10 agreements on port construction, gas pipeline installation and water treatment plant, e-commerce, manufacture and installation of solar panels.
The same day, both sides are due to sign a framework agreement on finance and a technical contract for a 13 billion USD railway in the eastern coast of Malaysia – the largest Chinese investment in Malaysia.-VNA
