Kuala Lumpur (VNA)♐ – The Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia(MITI) called for changes in all sectors and businesses to meet the demand ofthe fourth industrial revolution (I4.0) at a workshop held in May 2.
The workshopdrew more than 500 participants from major enterprises, institutions andGovernment agencies, aiming to build the I4.0 branding for Malaysia. MITI officialssaid that industrial sectors should lead the I4.0 and inner changes will bemore sustainable. The Government’srole is to raise public awareness about benefits of I4.0 and provide financialsupport for small- and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs), and create a closecooperation network, the MITI said. The ministryalso believed that I4.0 will tackle several issues of the Malaysian economy,especially its dependence on foreign workers when robots with artificialintelligence could replace them in repetitive tasks. According to theMITI, the first step of I4.0 is to change the working and business methods asthere are new styles such as Uber and AirB&B that are challenging traditionalones.-VNA
