Mexico City (VNA) – The MexicanChamber of Deputies, 64th tenure, held a ceremony on October 8 to set up theMexico-Vietnam friendship parliamentary group.
Alfredo Femat Bañuelos, Chair of the Chamber ofDeputies’ Foreign Affairs Committee, said the group is responsible forpromoting and creating a space for dialogue, contributing to strengthening themulti-faceted relations between the two countries.
He added that Mexico and Vietnam share manyhistorical, cultural and economic similarities and development goals.
The two sides can learn from each other andexchange experience in socio-economic development and education, said AlfredoFemat Bañuelos, who is also Chairman of the group.
He highlighted that the bilateral friendship andcooperation have thrived in all fields, especially economy and trade.
Vietnam is currently the eighth biggest tradepartner of Mexico in Asia-Pacific. Two-way trade increased by over 20 percentin the past 10 years to reach nearly 5 billion USD in 2018.
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to MexicoNguyen Hoai Duong affirmed that the establishment of the group demonstrates thesound relations between the two countries in all fields and cooperationchannels.
He thanked Mexican people for supportingVietnamese people in the cause of national independence and building.
He highlighted the sound relations between thetwo countries’ parliaments, governments and peoples.
The diplomat pledged to strengthen coordinationwith the group to promote the bilateral rapports in the coming time.
Pham Tat Thang, deputy chairman of the VietnameseNational Assembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and Children,voiced his hope that the group will help promote the bilateral cooperation./.
