- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam met with retired senior officials of the People's Public Security Force in Hanoi on August 14, on the occasion of the force's 79th anniversary and the 19th anniversary of the All-People National Security Safeguarding Day (August 19).

Committee members scrutinised 10 draft laws, namely the Law on Geology and Minerals, the Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Pharmacy, the revised Law on Trade Unions, the revised Law on Human Trafficking Prevention and Control, the revised Law on Notarisation, the revised Law on Cultural Heritage, the Law on Urban Planning and Rural Planning, the Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue, the revised Law on Value Added Tax, and the Law on Justice for Minors. - Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung chaired talks with a delegation from the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) led by General Secretary Paulo Raimundo in Hanoi on August 14.

Trung expressed thanks to Paulo Raimundo and other PCP leaders for their heartfelt condolence letters on the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and congratulatory messages to President To Lam on his election as the new Party chief of Vietnam. - More than 17,100 apartments and land plots of real estate projects across the country remain on the market in the second quarter of this year, with land plots and houses doubling that of apartments, the Ministry of Construction (MoC) reported on August 14.

- A conference to review the results of a project on expanding opportunities and improving the status for persons with disabilities for the 2021-2024 period was jointly organised by the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of central Thua Thien-Hue province and the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC) on August 14.

According to an article published by Nikkei Asia on August 14, Alchip Technologies, Taiwan's leading provider of AI chip design services, is expanding its R&D team into Vietnam, where it is planning to open its first office this year.
