Hanoi (VNA) – A variety of activities for overseas Vietnamese (OVs) will take place in the second quarter of 2025, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOVA) during a press briefing on March 24.

At the event, SCOVA Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Dong announced that a ceremony will be held in Hanoi on March 29 to launch the annual programme honouring the mother tongue and a competition to identify ambassadors of the Vietnamese language among OV communities. The launch will be in-person, with live connections to Vietnamese diplomatic missions worldwide.

He also revealed that an OV delegation will attend the Hung Kings Temple Festival—one of the country’s largest cultural and religious events to commemorate its legendary founders—for two days, April 3-4 (the 6th-7th of the third lunar month), a shift from the usual single-day format.

Key activities will include incense offerings, a tribute ceremony at the temple in Phu Tho province, a meeting with local leaders, and a visit to authorities in the neighbouring province of Phu Tho, with the presentation of gifts.

In addition, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025), SCOVA plans to collaborate with Ho Chi Minh City authorities to organise a series of events for OVs.

Representatives from the OV community will participate in the official April 30 commemoration ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City, with a parade contingent of 120 people, along with an audience of around 200 seated in the grandstand.

𓃲 Leading up to the main event, a series of activities will take place, including visits and incense offerings at the Ben Duoc – Cu Chi memorial site and the Cu Chi tunnels, visits to families of revolution contributors, and events to connect and honour distinguished OVs./.
