Hanoi (VNA) –
The National Assemblypassed a Resolution on socio-economic development plan for 2018 at the ongoingfourth session in Hanoi on November 10.

With 84.93 percent of approval, the Resolutiontargets a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6.5-6.7 percent; total exportrevenue rise of 7-8 percent; a trade deficit of below 3 percent of the totalexport revenue; and total investments for social development accounting for 33-34percent of the GDP.

The rate of poor households will be reduced by1-3 percent while the unemployment rate will be less than 4 percent. The ratioof trained workers is expected to reach 58-60 percent of the workforce. As muchas 85.2 percent of the population will be covered by health insurance. Theforest coverage is projected to be 41.6 percent.

To realise the aforesaid goals, the NationalAssembly asked the Government, the Supreme People’s Court, the People’s SupremeProcuracy, and the State Audit Office to implement measures to ensuremacro-economic stability, encourage and support enterprises to start business,restructure agriculture, develop the processing and manufacturing industries,and address production and accommodation land for the ethnic minority groups.

These efforts are coupled with promoting salesof domestic products, preventing smuggling, tightening management of naturalresources and environmental protection, tackling climate change, and reformingeducation and training.

It is necessary to step up efforts to preventcorruption and wastefulness, improve the State management efficiency of thepress, firmly safeguarding national sovereignty, defense, security and socialorder and safety, implement effectively external affairs and proactivelyintegrate into the world.
