NA approves resolution on amending 2013 Constitution

Hanoi (VNA) – With all 452 deputies present voting in favour, accounting for 94.56% of the total number of deputies, the 15th National Assembly (NA) adopted a resolution on amending and supplementing several articles of the 2013 Constitution during the legislature's ninth session on May 5.

The decision paves the way for the streamlining of the political system's organisational apparatus, with revisions focusing on the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organisations, the delimitation of administrative units, and the organisation of local governments.

The NA also approved the establishment of a drafting committee in charge of designing supplementations and amendments to the 2013 Constitution, with 446 out of the 446 deputies present voting in favour (93.31% of all deputies).

The committee will consist of 15 members and will be chaired by NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man. The deputy heads include Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh, and Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long.

The committee is tasked with drafting a resolution to revise the Constitution, consulting the public, agencies, and all levels of authorities, and incorporating their feedback, as well as that of NA deputies, before finalising the draft for parliamentary approval.
