Hanoi (VNA) ꧋– National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man paid pre-Tet visits to the families of late Party General Secretaries Truong Chinh and Nguyen Phu Trong, late NA Chairman Le Quang Dao, and visited former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and former NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung in Hanoi on January 5.
He offered incense in tribute to late Party General Secretaries Truong Chinh and Nguyen Phu Trong, late NA Chairman Le Quang Dao, who made great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and people.
Truong Chinh, real name Dang Xuan Khu, was an outstanding leader of Vietnam’s revolution and a preeminent disciple of late President Ho Chi Minh. In his 81-year life, including 63 years of revolutionary activities, he served as Party General Secretary for three times, in 1941, from 1951 to 1956, and in 1986. Notably, he proposed the “Doi moi” (renewal) policy to the Politburo in July 1986.
Late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was an exceptionally outstanding leader and a staunch communist party member with great prestige of the Party, State and people, who fully embodied the qualities, talent, mettle and wisdom of the generation of Vietnamese leaders in the renewal period.

Le Quang Dao served as Chairman of the 8th NA (1987-1992). He was responsible for building a legal framework that served as a foundation for the country’s renewal process initiated by the Party at its 6th National Congress.
Visiting former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and former NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, Chairman Man expressed his thank for their paying attention and making contributions to activities of the NA and its Standing Committee. He extended the warmest Tet greetings to Manh and Hung as well as their families.
Man emphasised that the NA, its agencies and deputies will continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, innovation, breakthroughs, and focusing on key tasks; strive to fulfil the goals and tasks of 2025 as well as the programmes and plans of the 15th National Assembly, contributing to creating a foundation for the country to enter a new era of development.
He expressed his hopes that the two former leaders will continue to contribute opinions to further improve the quality and effectiveness of the National Assembly's operations in the coming time.
