Quang Ninh (VNA) – A flag-raising ceremony was held by the Party Committee and the People’sCommittee of Co To district in the northern province of Quang Ninh on May 9 tomark the 62nd anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh’s trip to theisland of the same name (May 9, 1961 - 2023).
The island district is over 100 km from the mainland and covers an area of 46.2sq.km.
The late leader visited Co To island in 1961 and 1962, and this showed that he highly valued the importance and national defence and securitystrategic position of the island.

The island has great potentialand advantages to develop the marine economy and tourism services. CoTo has transformed itself into a shining pearl in the northeast region of thenation. The district completed the new-style rural area building programme in2015. Its annual economic growth is 15 - 16%.
