National football team ready for friendly matches in RoK

Vietnam’s national men’s football team on October 19 joined a practice session in Paju, in the northern region of the Republic of Korea (RoK), as part of its training course to prepare for the upcoming ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2018.

Seoul (VNA) – Vietnam’s national men’s football team on October 19 joined apractice session in Paju, in the northern region of the Republic of Korea(RoK), as part of its trainingcourse to prepare for the upcoming ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup2018.

Accordingto coaches, all players are in good physical condition and ready for the upcomingmatches. The weather in Paju is also favourable for sports training, theynoted.

The squadwill have friendly matches against three RoK clubs, including Incheon United onOctober 22, Seoul FC on October 25, and Seoul E Land on October 29.

They willthen return home the following day for the final list of players to the AFFSuzuki Cup 2018. As many as 22 players will be selected to participate in the tournament.

The footballtournament will take place from November 8 to December 15 with 26 matches among10 teams.

Vietnam is in Group Atogether with Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos.

This year, the AFFSuzuki Cup will feature a new playing format, with both home and away ties.

Vietnam will facebordering Laos in their first match on November 8. The country’s second matchwill be against Malaysia on November 16 at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.

Four days later, onNovember 20, the national team will play against Myanmar.

Champions will beawarded a cash prize of 200,000 USD. The runners-up will be given 75,000 USD,while two third-prize winning teams will be handed 50,000 USD each. –VNA
