Hanoi (VNA) –ꦺ Multiple newspapers in Vietnam will join a special and unique activity to mark the 45th anniversary of the liberalisation of the south and reunification of the country. 

By printing national flags on their April 29 editions, they will help readers make their own flags with newspaper pages.  Readers will be guided to cut the national flag printed on both sides of a newspaper page and use the rest of the page to form the flagstaff. The small flag can be placed in the office and living room, on the car, or in any public places, to encourage patriotism. Readers are also encouraged to post photos of their flags on social media using the hashtag #toiyeuvietnam to spread national pride. Initiated by the Vietnam News Agency, various print newspapers, namely Tin Tuc (News), The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports & Culture), Viet Nam News, The Radio Voice of Vietnam, Gia Dinh Viet Nam (Vietnamese Family), Nong Nghiep Viet Nam (Vietnamese Agriculture) and Kinh Te & Do Thi (Economics & Urban) will join the movement. Over the years, when it comes to the country’s major anniversaries, the press has always published meaningful content through various platforms to deliver accurate and authentic information.  The news industry has witnessed many changes in their platforms, along with readers’ responses. New ideas put forward by printed newspapers on those occasions are considered rare.  The idea not only offers an interesting experience for readers, but shows attempts to strengthen links between the audience and printed newspapers, which play an important role in covering helpful information across the nation, especially for people in remote and mountainous localities as well as soldiers in the country’s islands.  In related news, several popular tourist sites in Vietnam will reopen for visitors on the National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) following the easing of social distancing. The management board of the My Son Cultural Site in central Quang Nam province has announced that the site will welcome visitors from April 28, but tourists are requested to wear face masks and keep a safe distance from one another. The site has been temporarily closed to visitors since March 16 due to fear of COVID-19 spreading, Nhan Dan reported. The Khanh Hoa provincial Tourism Department said that it has developed scenarios to target the domestic market this summer, with a focus on holidaymakers from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Popular tourist attractions in NhaTrang city will reopen soon, the department said. Similarly, the Kien Giang provincial Tourism Department has issued a document allowing travel agents and local places of interest to serve customers. However, only Vietnamese tourists and foreigners residing in Vietnam are allowed to visit. Meanwhile in Hanoi, the Hop On Hop Off city tour is scheduled to resume operation for Vietnamese customers only during the April 30 - May Day holidays, according to Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Transportation Corporation’s Yen Vien Bus Company, which operates the tour, according to the newspaper. The Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi is also planning to reopen for the occasion. On April 29, the site will launch a virtual tour to its Building D67 and D67 Bunker, which served as the headquarters for the Vietnamese People’s Army between 1968 and 1975. The site will also offer a virtual exhibition of 120 documents, photos and objects recounting the General Offensive and Spring Uprising of 1975. The exhibition will run until May 31. Ho Chi Minh City plans to hold a range of activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975). On April 29, the municipal Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee will pay tribute to fallen soldiers at martyr cemeteries, as well as offering incense and flowers at the Ho Chi Minh and Ton Duc Thang museums. An exhibition marking the event will be held on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in District 1 from April 27 to May 10, alongside an online photo exhibition on the portals of the municipal Party Committee and People's Committee Office, the Ho Chi Minh City website and the websites of departments and organisations. The grand celebration of the Liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification Day will take place on the morning of April 30. Local authorities are scheduled to visit collectives and individuals who made remarkable contributions to the historical Ho Chi Minh Campaign. The city previously launched a contest to study the historical significance of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign and the Great Spring Victory of 1975, and encouraged people to compose music about the events./.
