Hanoi (VNA) – The total number of visitors to Hanoi reached 11.55 million between January and May, up 14% year-on-year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

Among these, foreign tourists numbered 2.64 million, a surge of 51.9%, while domestic ones totaled 8.91 million, an increase of 6.1%. Revenue from tourism exceeded 45.85 trillion VND (1.83 billion USD), growing by 23% from the same period last year.

In May alone, the capital welcomed 2.37 million travellers, an annual rise of 16.6%. Foreign and domestic arrivals increased by 46.7% to 496,500, and by 10.6% to 1.88 million, respectively. Tourism revenue for the month was over 9.19 trillion VND, up 23.6% compared to May 2023.

Notably, in previous years, the peak season for international tourists in Hanoi spanned from October to April, thanks to favourable weather conditions. However, this year, right from the beginning of summer, the arrivals have continued to grow strongly, a positive signal for its efforts in attracting visitors throughout the year.
