Over 102,000 Vietnamese sent to work abroad in nine months

Vietnam sent more than 102,000 labourers to work abroad in the first nine months of this year, according to the Vietnam Labour Export Association.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam sent more than 102,000 labourers to workabroad in the first nine months of this year, according to the Vietnam LabourExport Association.

Some 96,800 people, or nearly 95 percent of the total, went to work inNortheast Asia. Taiwan (China) continued to be the largest market forVietnamese migrant workers with 47,700 or 46 percent, followed by Japan with44,000.

Meanwhile, there were only 930 labourers working in Southeast Asian nations.

During January-September, Vietnamese nationals went to work in 26 countries andterritories. Five largest markets of Vietnamese labour were Taiwan, Japan, theRepublic of Korea, Romania and Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs aims to send 111,000workers abroad by the end of this year.

Last year, over 134,700 labourers were sent abroad.

Vietnam has 340 enterprises providing labour export services, most of them arein Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.-VNA
