Over 90 pct of Thua Thien-Hue population have clean water access by 2020

Over 90 percent of the population in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue is expected to be given access to clean water by 2020.

Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – Over 90 percent of the populationin the central province of Thua Thien-Hue is expected to be given access toclean water by 2020.

The goal was set by the Thua Thien-Hue Water Supply JSC,which has built a total of 4,400 km of pipelines and water plants with a dailycapacity of over 200,000 cu.m.

Truong Cong Nam, Chairman of the company’s Board ofDirectors, said the firm has met national technical standards on water qualityas recognised by the Ministry of Health.

The company has installed drinking points in three- to five-starhotels, as well as 50 others for free in parks, hospitals, and schools.

It was certified as meeting ISO 9001:2000 quality standardsin terms of drinking water supply in 2004 and its lab met the ISO/IEC17025:2005 standards in 2007.

The firm upgraded and expanded its central lab, meeting anadditional 30 criteria, installed water quality gauge equipment, and outlined amap on major polluting areas.

Since 2017, it has successfully launched projects to ensuresustainable water security and built a safe water supply trademark.

It received certificates of merit on safe water supply fromthe Ministry of Construction and the Water Supply and Sewerage Association, aswell as was invited by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and theWorld Health Organisation (WHO) to international forums and seminars in Asia toshare its experience. –VNA
