– Head of the Party CentralCommittee’s Commission on External Relations Hoang Binh Quan held talks with GeneralSecretary of the Dominican Republic’s United LeftMovement (MIU) and Minister for Regional Integration Policies Miguel Mejiain Hanoi on August 28.

Both sides agreed to furtherdeepen ties between the two Parties, considering it important to boost theexchange of all-level visits and theoretical experience, as well as increase mutualsupport in expanding cooperation with other political parties in Asia and LatinAmerica.

The same day at Hoa Binh Park,President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man andthe MIU General Secretary chaired a ceremony to inaugurate a statue ofProfessor Juan Bosch – a writer, thinker, and soldier that fought for the nationalliberation of Dominica and Latin America, as well as a close friend of Vietnam.

On the occasion, Man thankedthe MIU and the ruling Dominican Liberation Party for building a President HoChi Minh statue and naming a park after him in the capital city of SantoDomingo in March 2013, affirming that it is a vivid symbol of the sentimentthat the Dominican people and political parties have given to President Ho ChiMinh and the Vietnamese people.

Mejia, for his part,expressed his profound gratitude for Vietnamese leaders and people, as well asHanoi authorities in particular, for their sentiment to Prof. Bosch and the Dominicanpeople. He said the inauguration of the statue at Hoa Binh Park is significantto fostering friendship and cooperation between the two nations. –VNA
