Party Secretariat gives warning to ex-chief of Binh Dinh party committee

The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat has decided to give a warning to Nguyen Van Thien, former Secretary of the Binh Dinh provincial Party Committee, for his wrongdoings between 2010 and 2015.
Hanoi (VNA) – The Party Central Committee’sSecretariat has decided to give a warning to Nguyen Van Thien, former Secretaryof the Binh Dinh provincial Party Committee, for his wrongdoings between 2010and 2015.

Under the chair of Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong, the Secretariat convened a meeting in Hanoi on May 25 toconsider a report by the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, whichproposed punishment be imposed on Thien, who is a former member of the PartyCentral Committee and former Secretary of the Binh Dinh provincial PartyCommittee.

The Secretariat concluded that while serving asSecretary of the Binh Dinh Party Committee in the 2010-2015 tenure, Thien madecontributions to local development. 

However, through the Inspection Commission’s reporton denunciation settlement, the Secretariat realised that as the province’s leader,he was responsible for supplementing candidates and appointing persons, whowere unqualified, which were not in conformity with regulations.

On behalf of the provincial Party Committee,Thien also signed a document regarding the equitisation of Quy Nhon Port sentto the Secretary of the Party Delegation to the Ministry of Transport – the Ministerof Transport, which was not under the responsibility of the province. Thataction was made without consulting the provincial Party Committee’s standingboard as it should be as in line with the provincial Party Committee’s workingregulations.

Thien’s violations affected the prestige of thelocal Party organisation and his reputation, the Secretariat said, adding thathe admitted his violations, shortcomings and responsibility, and voluntarilyaccepted discipline.

All Secretariat members agreed to take adisciplinary measure of warning against Thien through secret ballots, accordingto the Secretariat.-VNA
