Geneva (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland hosted a ceremony on May 18 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2025) and President Ho Chi Minh's 135th birthday (May 19, 1890 - 2025).
In his speech, Ambassador Phung The Long emphasised the great historical significance of the April 30 Victory, which marked the beginning of a new era of peace, reunification, and development for Vietnam.

He voiced his belief that the Vietnamese community in the European nation will continue to make great contributions to their homeland, calling on them to join hands in building a peaceful, prosperous, and globally integrated Vietnam with an increasingly prominent position in the international arena.
Addressing the event, Anjuska Weil, President of the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association (SVFA), expressed her joy and deep impression after attending the recent national ceremony and parade in Ho Chi Minh City to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, stressing that the event conveyed a powerful message of national pride, determination to safeguard independence, and deep respect for those who sacrificed for Vietnam's freedom, and strong affirmation of the Vietnamese people's will for peace.

Ly said she feels extremely fortunate to live in a peaceful country, stressing that peace is not merely the absence of gunfire, but a foundation for development, prosperity, and happiness of each people.

Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years.
