Hanoi (VNA) – Ministries, sectors andlocalities are mobilising relevant forces to quickly address the consequencesof Storm Noul, as requested by the Office of the Central Steering Committee onNatural Disaster Prevention and Control.

The committee sent Dispatch12/CD-TWPCTT directing tasks to be carried out immediately by each locality and sector, including cleaning up the environment, repairing damagedconstructions like telecommunications, power, traffic, and public facilities, and delivering support to households affected by the storm.

Frequent updates on storm-related rain and flood arerequired for prompt response, particularly in the worse-case scenario.

Storm Noul, the fifth in the East Sea this year, madelandfall in the central region on September 18.

According to the office, as of September 20, the storm left sixpeople dead and 112 others injured; 13 houses completely collapsed and 22,716others damaged; 3,888 ha of rice and vegetables submerged; and 105 ha ofaquatic farming ruined.

Meanwhile, 16.5 km of coasts and river banks were eroded, and 36kmof roads were damaged, most of which have been re-opened for traffic as of September 20 morning.
More than 312,000 customers in Thua Thien-Hue province were cut off from power due to the storm damaging power pole, stations and grids. As of 7pm on September 20, the power sector restored service for over 230,000 customers./.
