Phu Tho (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham MinhChinh on September 3 asked the northern midland province of Phu Tho to work harderto become an economic connectivity centre between Vietnam and other ASEANmember countries as well as China’s southwestern region.
At a working session with the Standing Board of theprovincial Party Committee as part of his trip to the locality, Chinh said PhuTho has favourable conditions for the economic connectivity.
With its special potential and competitive advantages,Phu Tho should become a leading locality in the northernmidland and mountainous region, especially in rapid, sustainable developmentand economic restructuring, the PM said.
He asked the province to accelerate the disbursementof public investments and effectively implement national target programmes and thesocio-economic recovery and development programme.
For the long term, Phu Tho needs to promote digitaltransformation, green economy, innovation and startup, the leader said, urgingit to maximise opportunities and resources, and raise the efficiency ofinvestments, especially FDI.
Chinh asked the province to quickly complete itsplanning scheme for 2021-2030 with a vision towards 2050, with attention paidto socio-economic infrastructure, particularly transport and digitaltransformation infrastructure.
Earlier the same day, the PM visited the Phu Tho provincialHospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology in Viet Tri city, which was put intooperation in 2019.
He also made a field-trip to the Tuyen Quang-Phu Thoexpressway project connected with the Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway, and the HungVuong High School for Gifted Students project.
Last year, Phu Pho’s GRDP grew 6.28%, ranking 21st out of the 63 cities and provinces and fifth in the midland and mountainous regionin this regard. The GRDP growth was 7.8% in the first half of this year.
Phu Tho’s Viet Tri city is associated with Hung Kings– legendary founders of the nation. The worship of Hung Kings was inscribed onthe Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012./.
