Phu Yen (VNA) – 💖The south central coastal province of Phu Yen is making an all-out effort to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing this year.

Responding to the previous campaign of joining hands to build homes for the poor as well as the Prime Minister’s ongoing movement to do away with substandard houses, the local authorities have set a goal to ensure that no policy beneficiaries, impoverished families, or those in difficult circumstances are left without safe and permanent housing. According to Ho Hong Nam, Vice President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Phu Yen has supported the construction of over 2,000 homes for poor and near-poor families and policy beneficiaries since 2021, with total funding exceeding 82 billion VND (3.27 million USD).
However, official data showed that the province still has nearly 1,900 cases of poor and near-poor people, revolution contributors, and relatives of fallen soldiers requiring new housing to replace their substandard dwellings. The estimated funding needed for this effort nears 95 billion VND, while current available resources stand at only around 60 billion VND. Phu Yen aims to raise an additional 35 billion VND in 2025 to fully finance the work.
During a recent meeting of the provincial steering committee for temporary and dilapidated housing eradication, Chairman of the Phu Yen People's Committee Chairman Ta Anh Tuan stressed that providing secure housing is a key political mission, reflecting the Party’s and State’s commitment to improving living standards, particularly for those who have contributed to the country and those facing economic hardship. He urged all levels of local authorities to translate the effort into reality, strictly preventing any losses or misconduct. The leader noted that the province is determined to eradicate over 1,700 substandard houses by September 2./.
