Labuan Bajo (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh metwith his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen on May 9 on the sidelinesof the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.
Congratulating Cambodia on the successful opening ceremony ofthe 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), PM Chinh expressed hisbelief that the country will also successfully hold the 7th NationalAssembly election this July to help promote its stature in the region and theworld.
PM Hun Sen affirmed that Cambodia always treasures the neighbourliness,friendship, and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam. He also thanked Vietnamfor supporting and sending a leader to attend the SEA Games opening ceremony,adding he is happy that a large number of Vietnamese have come to watch the32nd SEA Games events.
The two PMs voiced their delight at the thriving cooperationbetween their countries as seen in frequent meetings between leaders andfruitful cooperation mechanisms, especially the high-level conference betweenthe two ruling parties last February, the 20th meeting of theVietnam - Cambodia Joint Committee, and the 12th cooperation anddevelopment conference between the countries’ border provinces.
They agreed to effectively implement the signed agreementsand step up the two economies’ connectivity in order to help each other develop an independent and self-reliant economy with extensive, substantive, andeffective integration into the world, particularly amid the narrowing globalmarket.
They concurred in providing more favourable conditions forVietnamese and Cambodian enterprises to boost investment and businesspartnerships, especially in cross-border trade, economic development in borderareas, and education - training.
Both sides also agreed to coordinate closely and effectivelyto help build a united, independent, self-resilient and prosperous ASEAN Community.
At the meeting, PM Chinh invited his counterpart to re-visitVietnam in the near future./.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highlilghted the importance of cooperation in labour and vocational training between Vietnam and Cambodia, during his reception for Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training Ith Samheng in Hanoi on April 5.
The sixth Vietnam - Cambodia Defence Policy Dialogue was held on April 19 at the border post of Moc Bai International Border Gate in the southern province of Tay Ninh.
Cambodia is scheduled to start the construction of the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway close to Vietnam’s Moc Bai international border gate in June 2023, said Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia.
