PM urges speeding up construction of national key transport projects

Hanoi (VNA) -🔯 Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked for the acceleration of national key transport infrastructure projects to celebrate major national holidays, while chairing a meeting in Hanoi on August 8.

Speaking at the 13th meeting of the State steering committee for national key transport projects and works to discuss solutions to difficulties and obstacles in the task, the Government leader applauded efforts by ministries, sectors, localities, project management boards, investors, constructors, engineers, and workers in implementing projects in recent times. PM Chinh, who is also head of the committee, reiterated the target of having 3,000 km of expressways by 2025 and 5,000 km by 2030 as set at the 13th National Party Congress, saying that it identified three strategic breakthroughs, including one in transport infrastructure.
He requested members of the committee and delegates to focus on reviewing the implementation and seeking ways to resolve any difficulties and obstacles to speed up the progress of projects in the coming period. The PM underlined the urgency to handle issues related to procedures for common construction material mines for projects, progress of site handover and relocation of technical infrastructure, and construction of projects managed by state agencies.
At the 12th meeting, the PM assigned 57 tasks to ministries, agencies, and localities, including 11 with deadlines. At the same time, the PM and Deputy PMs issued 12 relevant directives. Reports at the latest meeting indicated that, to date, two projects with 12 highway sub-projects totaling 693 km passing through 15 provinces and cities have been completed, lifting the total length of highways to 2,021 km. On August 8, the 8.5-km elevated section of the Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line, running from Nhon to Cau Giay, started commercial operation. These projects contribute to promoting socio-economic development, creating new development spaces for localities where the projects pass through, forming new urban and service areas, increasing land value, reducing logistics costs, facilitating transportation, and creating jobs and livelihoods for locals./.
