Ben Tre (VNA) - More than 500 students, who are poor, orphans and living withdisabilities in the southern province of Ben Tre, on August 25 receivedscholarships.
Thescholarships were from the Nhan Thien Scholarship Fund, an organisation underthe provincial sponsor association for poor patients, people with disabilitiesand orphans.
Eachscholarship is worth 2-10 million VND (86-430 USD) depending on theirlevel of education.
This yearis the eighth year the fund has given scholarships to local students. The fundaimed at helping poor students continue their schooling. After graduating and gettingjobs, they will contribute to maintain the fund.
In the2019-2020, the fund plans to offer scholarships to 647 secondary students and490 high school students and disabled learners with a total sum of 2.1 billion VND(90,300 USD).
The fundhas given more than 29,400 scholarships to students over the past eight years.-VNA
Thirty two scholarships were presented to impoverished students who have excellent academic performances at the Hue University in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on April 16.
The Capital Aid Fund for Employment of the Poor (CEP) has said it will provide 2,253 scholarships and 9,610 gift packages worth nearly 8 billion VND in total (344,000 USD) to children of labourers during the 2019-2020 school year.
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue on August 20 received 303 scholarships worth over 2 billion VND (about 85,950 USD) granted to local students from the Pacific Links Foundation of the US.
The Vu A Dinh scholarship fund, Nam A Bank, VinaCapital Foundation (VCF), and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union provincial chapter of Long An presented scholarships to 120 poor students with outstanding performance during a local ceremony on August 21.
