Thua Thien-Hue: 32 scholarships presented to disadvantaged students

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – Thirty two scholarships were presented toimpoverished students who have excellent academic performances at the HueUniversity in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on April 16.
The scholarships, each valued at 150 USD, are sourced from the fund foreducation and social support. During the 2018-2019 academic year, the fundsponsors 9,600 USD for 32 standout students at the university. They willcontinue receive the support until graduating if they have good studyingresults.
The fund has so far granted scholarships for 80 students in Thua Thien-Hue.
Besides, it has carried out a credit support programme for impoverished womenin Phu Vang and Quang Dien districts and Huong Tra town, with a totaloutstanding debt of more than 2 billion VND (86,200 USD).
The fund for education and social support is a non-profit organisation establishedby the Vietnamese expatriates in the US in 2018, with the aim of improvinglivelihoods for needy people in Vietnam. The fund has carried out variousprojects to improve education, infrastructure and household business in ThuaThien-Hue, Da Nang and Tien Giang. -VNA
