Public security force sent to southern battlefields receives hero title

Hanoi (VNA) – The Central Public Security PartyCommittee and the Ministry of Public Security on October 23 held a ceremony to bestowthe title "Hero of People’s Armed Forces" to the public security force sent asreinforcements to the southern battlefields during the anti-America war.
In his remarks at the event, Minister of Public Security Gen. ToLam said the Party, State and Vietnamese people are always grateful for thecontributions made by the South's security force, including the reinforcements sent to the southern battlefields in the war.
He urged the Central Public Security Party Committee, theMinistry of Public Security and local public security units to continue well implementingsocial welfare policies designated for people who rendered services to thenation, including the public security force sent as reinforcements to thesouthern battlefields, and their families.
Lam hoped that the senior public security officers willfurther uphold their revolutionary bravery and morality to overcome hardshipsand contribute more to the cause of national construction and protection.
He also expected that the senior officers will devote to thedevelopment of public security forces and be shining examples for today’sgenerations.
The minister called on all public security officersto actively take part in rescue operations in flood-hit areas in central Vietnamand raise funds to support affected people.
As many as 906 public security officers were killed on dutyacross battlefields in the south while 46 others were arrested and imprisoned byAmerican troops during the past war. Hundreds of them were wounded or exposedto Agent Orange/Dioxin./.
The seventh Congress of the Central Public Security Party Organisation for the 2020-2025 period will take place from October 11 to 13 in Hanoi, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
