Quang Binh (VNA)🦂 – The steering committee for the eradication of temporary and dilapidated houses in the central province of Quang Binh on February 19 convened a meeting with local authorities and relevant agencies to intensify efforts to eliminate substandard housing across the province.
Le Ngoc Quang, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, urged local authorities and agencies to assess progress, share successful strategies, and identify obstacles that need to be addressed in order to meet the goal of completing housing improvements in most districts by September.
To overcome these challenges, Quang instructed authorities to mobilise resources and ensure the effective implementation of the programme. This includes securing budget allocations and attracting external funding to support the 837 near-poor ethnic minority households that have recently been added to the list of beneficiaries.
Additionally, localities were tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of poor ethnic minority households to facilitate the smooth execution of national target programmes for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, new-style rural development, and sustainable poverty reduction for the 2021-2025 period.
Quang also directed the Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs and the Board for Ethnic Affairs to provide detailed reports on the number of poor and near-poor ethnic minority households that have already benefited from national policies. This will help ensure fair financial allocations for beneficiaries.
So far, work has started on 605 of the 1,553 houses that need rebuilding or repairs, with 56 houses already completed. However, several challenges persist, including insufficient funding, inconsistent implementation across districts, and financial difficulties that prevent some households from participating in the programme. Authorities are working to address these issues to ensure the programme’s success./.
