Quang Ngai: fishermen celebrate first sailing of Lunar New Year
A festival was held in the central province of Quang Ngai’s Sa Huynh port on February 7 or the third day of the first lunar month to mark the first sailing of local fishermen in the lunar year.

QuangNgai (VNA) - A festival washeld in the central province of Quang Ngai’s Sa Huynh port on February 7 or thethird day of the first lunar month to mark the first sailing of local fishermenin the lunar year.
As a pray for a new year of favourable weatherand bumper harvests, the festival featured traditional singings by localfishermen, namely Sac Bua and Ba Trao.
At the event, dozens of fishing vessels set sailin the sound of drums.
Sa Huynh port is located in Duc Pho district’sPho Thanh commune where about 65 percent of population are fishermen, with morethan 1,000 fishing ships.
The commune is expected to catch 46,000 tonnesof seafood in 2019.-VNA
The Fisherman Support Fund of central Quang Ngai province aims to mobilise 10 billion VND (450,000 USD) per year, including one billion VND from the provincial budget, to support local fishermen.
Fishermen in the central province of Quang Nga returned ashore with big batches of fish caught during recent trips as Tet (Lunar New Year) is approaching.
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the central province of Quang Ngai and Hue University of Education presented 3,000 national flags to fishermen of Ly Son island district on March 3.
A crowd of people has flocked to Binh Son district in the central province of Quang Ngai to offer incense and bury a 400-kilogram fish which is believed to bring good luck to fishermen.
