Quang Ninh (VNA) – All 31 Chinese visitors,a guide and four crewmembers aboard a tourist ship, were brought to shore safely after a collisionbetween the ship and a cargo barge in Ha Long Bay, the northern province ofQuang Ninh, on December 24.

The accident took place at 12pm near Ti Top island when the tourist ship coded HongLong 3109 on its way to the portafter travelling the bay, and the barge coded Hung Vuong HP3888 was en route HaiPhong city to Hon Net seaport in Quang Ninh.

According to the local authority, the barge was transporting about 1,700 tonnesof stone when the accident occurred.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vu Van Dien directly directedauthorised forces to swiftly deal with the incident, and support the touristsand crewmembers.

The salvage of the sink and investigation on the accident are underway.-VNA
