Quang Trung software city introduces smart urban area model

Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) in Ho Chi Minh City introduced its pioneering model of building a smart urban area using modern technology on March 13.

HCM City (VNA) – QuangTrung Software City (QTSC) in Ho Chi Minh City introduced its pioneering modelof building a smart urban area using modern technology on March 13.

Set to be the country’sfirst smart urban area model, the city now accommodates more than 20,000 peopleliving and working on a site of 43ha.

QTSC Director Lam NguyenHai Long said the city is fully equipped with housing, restaurants, schools,medical stations, businesses and entertainment areas.

In 2016, QTSC digitalisedits technical infrastructure via asset management system GIS and tools tomanage data and update infrastructure information regarding electricity andwater supply, wastewater, greenery and land.

The city has used softwareto track vehicle registration plates and recognise faces, equipped offices withautomatic Smarthome systems, opened a farming lab using technological advancesand adopted public lighting management software capable of saving 35 percent ofenergy and adjusting light intensity based on weather.

It spends nearly 10 billionVND on smart technology each year, partly funded by firms based in the city.

Next year, QTSC willcontinue using technologies to build smart offices, automatic irrigation andcorporate internal governance system.

Founded on March 16, 2001, QTSC has attracted150 ICT companies (49 foreign and 91 domestic ones), and 33 investors who havebeen completing infrastructure to serve local needs. It has become anattractive destination for those who want to seek investment and cooperationopportunities in IT industry.-VNA
