The restoration of Phung Tien palace, part of the Hue Citadel world heritage site in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, has now been completed with significant German support.

Coordinatingon the project together, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre (HMCC) andGermany’s Society for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, Fulda (GEKE) organiseda session on January 7 to hand over the final outcomes.
Accordingly,the project cost a total of nearly 4.3 billion VND (168.614 EUR), of which over3.4 billion VND (135,873 EUR) was sponsored by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Embassy ofGermany in Vietnam, with the rest from Vietnam’s corresponding fund.
The restoration work ran under two phasesbetween September 29, 2017 and December 31, 2018. It employed the fresco-seccotechnique of painting on dry plaster with pigments mixed in water. Thetechnique helped the project win two third-place prizes at the provincial andnational science and technology innovation awards last year.
Along with restoration work, the project alsofocused on offering advanced technical training to local craftsmen, painters,architects, and engineers, including those from the HMCC.
Constructed under the reign of King Minh Mang inthe 19th century, Phung Tien was among the Nguyen dynasty’s five most importantpalaces. It was used to worship the Nguyen Dynasty kings and their wives. Themajority of the palace has gone to ruin over time, apart from the remaining foundation,gates, and some stonework. –VNA
All major monuments of the Nguyen dynasty in the former feudal capital city of Hue and its surrounding areas will be fully restored by 2020 under a plan announced by the Thua Thien-Hue People's Committee.

The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government.
