Hanoi (VNA) – DeputyForeign Minister Bui Thanh Son on November 17 chaired an event to announce theresults of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week that took place in central Da Nangcity from November 6-11.
The event was attended byrepresentatives from the APEC 2017 National Committee, its subcommittees, the APEC2017 National Secretariat and about 70 foreign representative agencies andinternational organisations in Hanoi.
Speaking at the event, Son, who is also APEC 2017 SOM Chair,highlighted the key outcomes of the freshly-ended week, saying it is among fewAPEC Economic Leaders’ Week that attracted a large number of participants,including 4,500 officials from 21 APEC member economies, over 4,000 businesspeopleand about 3,000 reporters. Especially, all APEC economic leaders attended thisyear’s event.
It was also the first time Vietnam has hosteda regional-scale high-level meeting outside the capital city of Hanoi, headded.
The deputy minister underlined that, withthe theme of “Creating new dynamism, Fostering a shared future”, eight joint documentswere adopted at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, particularly the Da NangDeclaration and the APEC Ministerial Meeting Joint Statement, demonstrating themember economies’ commitments to the forum’s score goals and values whichpromote trade and investment liberalisation and multilateral trading system.
Son expressed sincere thanks towards theAPEC member economies and their representative agencies alongside internationalorganisations in Hanoi for close coordination and support to Vietnam as thehost of APEC 2017.
