RoK says DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit makes meaningful progress

The second summit between DPRK leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump in Hanoi on February 27-28 made meaningful progress, according to the Republic of Korea’s Presidential Office (Blue House).

– The second summitbetween DPRK leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump in Hanoi onFebruary 27-28 made meaningful progress, according to the Republic of Korea’s PresidentialOffice (Blue House).

In a statement released after the summitconcluded on February 28, the Blue House said the RoK regretted that the twosides were unable to reach an agreement, however they have made the mostmeaningful progress of their talks so far.

That the US President expressed his willingnessto continue talks will brighten the prospects for another summit, the statementsaid.

The same day, the RoK’s Democratic Party (DP)expressed the hope that the two leaders could meet again soon after the secondsummit in Hanoi.

The Liberty Korea Party (LKP) expressed itsregret that the two sides could not reach an agreement, but hoped that talks ondenuclearisation in the Korean Peninsula will be resumed at the earliest time.

The talks between DPRK leader Kim Jong-un and USPresident Donald Trump in Hanoi ended on February 28 with no agreement reached.

Spokespersonof the US White House Sarah Sanders said that the US and DPRK leaders had avery good and constructive meeting over the past two days. 

She said though no agreement was reached at thisDPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam and no joint statement issued, the two sides lookforward to meeting in the future. –VNA
