RoK shares tourism policy with developing countries

Seoul (VNA) –
The Ministry of Culture,Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea (RoK) began a forum in Seoul onJune 25 to share its tourism policy with developing countries and help them trainexperts in the field.

Tourism officials from nine countries –Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Peru andVietnam – are participating in the three-day forum.

After the forum, the RoK will begin a nine-daytraining programme on June 28 for officials from the participating countries,including lectures from local tourism experts as well as field surveys.

Keum Gi-hyung, head of the ministry's tourismpolicy bureau, said developing countries have shown interest in the RoK’stourism development experience, which saw the number of foreign touristskyrocket from some 10,000 in 1960 to 13 million in 2017.

He hoped tourism event will contribute to thecountries’ economic development.-VNA
