Sharp drop seen in traffic accidents in first two months

In the first two months of 2025 (from December 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025), the total number of traffic accidents nationwide stood at 3,443, with 1,868 deaths and 2,312 injuries. Compared to the same period in 2024, accidents went down by 1,436 (29.43%), fatalities by 189 (9.19%), and injuries by 1,616 (41.14%).

Hanoi (VNA) ಌ– Traffic accidents and fatalities have seen a notable decline in the first two months of 2025, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.

Data from the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, the Vietnam Maritime Administration, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam revealed a sharp reduction in incidents across the country. From January 15 to February 14, there were 1,616 traffic accidents nationwide, resulting in 882 deaths and 1,131 injuries, down by 824 (33.77%), 177 (16.71%), and 789 (41.09%) year-on-year respectively.
The sharpest decrease was seen on the roads, with 1,596 accidents, 868 fatalities, and 1,127 injuries recorded. This represented a reduction of 828 accidents (34.16%), 180 deaths (17.18%), and 788 injuries (41.15%) compared to the same period last year. In contrast, the railways saw an increase in the numbers of accidents and deaths, with 16 accidents and 11 deaths, up 77.78% and 57.14%, respectively. However, the waterways saw a significant drop in accidents, with only four resulting in three deaths and one injury , representing respecitive declines of 42.86%), 25% and 50%. No maritime accident was recorded during the period.

However, the waterways experienced an uptick in accidents and fatalities, with 11 accidents and nine deaths, up 22.22% and 125%./.
