Hanoi (VNA) – Singaporean businesses want to cooperate with theirVietnamese counterparts in digital technology to serve industrial developmentin each country, said President of the Singapore Manufacturing FederationDouglas Foo.

At a working session with Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen DucChung in Hanoi on October 17, Douglas Foo said Singaporean Prime Minister LeeHsien Loong suggested using digital technology to connect ASEAN membereconomies.

He said 2017 marks the development of Singapore’s industry, adding thate-commerce and digital economy will be the country’s priorities in 2018 when itassumes the rotating ASEAN Chair.

Therefore, Singapore wishes to pour more investments in nations in SoutheastAsia and the world at large, including Vietnam, he said.

For hispart, Chung emphasised that Vietnam in general and its capital city of Hanoi inparticular want to cooperate with Singapore in industrial development.

Hanoi hasmade first steps in technological development, digitalisation of data in themanagement of land, offices, businesses, public services and corporate taxdeclaration, he said.

The official expressed his hope that with economic potential and advantages inland and human resources, Hanoi will be a suitable destination for Singaporeaninvestors in the future, and that Singapore’s projects will gain successes inVietnam. -VNA
