Singapore’s tourism recovers remarkably in Q1

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced on April 7 that the Southeast Asian country welcomed more than 2.9 million visitors in the first quarter of this year, about two-thirds of pre-COVID-19 figures as the recovery of the tourism sector continues.

Singapore (VNA)꧟ –The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced on April 7 that the Southeast Asiancountry welcomed more than 2.9 million visitors in the first quarter of thisyear, about two-thirds of pre-COVID-19 figures as the recovery of the tourismsector continues.

Although the number of visitors has not yet fully recovered, tourists have stayed longer in the country - 3.97 days on average, upfrom 3.34 days in 2019, according to STB.

🍷 To attract more travellers, STB willwork with stakeholders to ensure that Singapore has a good mix of high-qualityattractions, hotels, events, tour experiences and other high quality services.

When the tourism sector recovers,Singapore will focus on six key areas, including efforts to turn the "lionisland" into a MICE (a type of tourism that combines meetings, incentives,conferences and events) destination and an ideal destination for families. STB said it hopes to receivebetween 12-14 million international arrivals this year with full tourism recovery expected by 2024.Revenue from the tourism sector is anticipated to hit 18-21 billionSGD (13.53-15.79 billion USD). There were 19.1 million tourists to Singapore in 2019 and tourism revenuehit 27.7 billion SGD./.
