Hanoi(VNA) – Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his spouse leftHanoi on the evening of April 18 to wrap up their official visit to Vietnam fromApril 16 at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

At the meetings with Vietnamese leaders, both sides were delighted with thegrowing traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the twocountries over the past 47 years.

They asserted that the sentiments and valuable assistance to each other have provideda solid foundation for the two countries to intensify and deepen their ties inthe future.

Measures were agreed to bring the relations to the next levels, including bolsteringpolitical ties, expanding cooperative fields of the respective strengths,reviewing signed documents and signing new ones, and exchanging more artisticperformances.

The two sides reached a consensus on intensified cooperation in defenceresearch, public security training, investment, agriculture and fisheries, and aviation,among others.

The two sides emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability inthe East Sea and handling disputes and disagreements through peaceful measuresin line with international law.

The two countries signed an agreement on education cooperation, and an actionprogramme on agriculture development cooperation for 2017-2019. - VNA
