Hanoi (VNA) – The OutstandingVietnamese Young Faces Award, an annual national event to honour young peopleat home and abroad who have excelled in various disciplines, announced its 10winners of 2018 at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 19 evening.
This year, a total of 139 youths, including38 young women and nine individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, werenominated. Of them, the 10 most outstanding were:
1. H’hen Nie – culture-arts category;
2 3. Nguyen Duc Thanh and Vong Binh Long –scientific research and innovation category;
Also at the ceremony, 10 other youths weregiven the Potential Award across the seven categories of culture-arts, academiclearning, business-startup, labour and production, sports and physicaltraining, defence and security and order.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime MinisterTruong Hoa Binh expressed his delight at the youths’ success.
They are representatives of different ethnicminorities, religious groups and overseas Vietnamese communities, he noted,adding that many of them have been a great source of inspiration.
On March 20, the 20 laureates are scheduledto visit the northern province of Phu Tho and have an exchange with localyouths.

The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
