Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand is hosting"Amazing Thailand Countdown 2019” celebrations in Bangkok and tourism centresin each of the four regions of the country.
TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said this week that Amazing Thailand Countdown2019 festivities will feature spectacular fireworks and music and danceperformances celebrating Thailand’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, as wellas the importance of travel and tourism to the national economy.
The celebration will be held at five locations; Iconsiam in Bangkok; ClockTower in the northern province of Chiang Mai; Clock Tower in the northeasternprovince of Nakhon Phanom; Clock Tower in the central province of Ratchaburi;and Pakbara Pier in the southern province of Satun.
The Amazing Thailand Countdown is a major event that the TAT has organized overthe years at various destinations across Thailand. The purpose is to promoteThailand as the ultimate destination for Thai and overseas tourists. It is alsoan effective way to help stimulate the economy and distribute income to peoplein every region.
The TAT estimates that during the peak days of December 29, 2018 and January 1,2019, Thailand will welcome about 520,000 foreign visitors. The biggest turnoutof spectators for the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2019 will be in Bangkok, wherethe countdown will begin at 6 pm on December 31, 2018. Six hours ofback-to-back celebrations and performances based on the theme of "TheRiver of Prosperity” will see in the New Year.
As for 2019, the TAT expects the country to accumulate no less than 1.18trillion baht from tourism, an increase of 10 percent, while the number of Thaiand foreign tourists will top 179 million people.–NNT/VNA
