Thailand acts to draw more foreign visitors

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is mapping out a plan to attract more tourists from Asia, especially holidaymakers from China.

Bangkok (VNA) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is mapping out a planto attract more tourists from Asia, especially holidaymakers from China.

ATAT delegation is scheduled to pay a working trip to Chinese cities, includingJinan, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou and Wuhan, from March 26-30 to seek partners.

Theauthority will also arrange a visit to China for representatives from travelcompanies, which are members of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA),where they will meet partners of 30-40 Chinese travel firms to discuss ways toincrease the flow of visitors from this market.

Inthe first two months of 2018, Thailand welcomed 2.2 million tourists fromChina. Thecountry expects 38 million tourists overall this year, including more than 10million from China.

Aspart of the plan, TAT also had a working session with 20 Thai travel agents inFebruary, focusing on measures to lure more high-class holidaymakers who haveannual average incomes of 60,000 USD upwards.

Recently,the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) launched a railway connecting the capitalcity of Thailand with Pattaya – a popular tourist destination in the country.The move is expected to help raise the number of visitors to Thailand ingeneral and Pattaya in particular.-VNA
