Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports has tapped five partners to create the “Angel Guard” app to boost tourist safety in the hope of further stimulating the tourism industry with Chinese visitors the first to be targeted for promotion.

The five partners working with the ministry include the Thailand Tourism Council, BDMS Hospital, Viriyah Insurance Company and Angel Life. They have joined hands under the “Tourism Healthcare Emergency System” project, to elevate safety for tourists by offering emergency medical services to them 24 hours a day.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Thanasak Patimaprakorn oversaw the signing ceremony, saying that the programme is expected to enhance the confidence of visitors to Thailand who directly benefit the tourism economy and that this latest project will first focus on Chinese visitors.

The Angel Guard app will provide information on BDMS Hospital’s network of 45 hospitals across the country, as well as on insurance plans offered by Viriyah Insurance.

The application will be available in early 2018, when tour companies will be urged to promote it to Chinese arrivals. The system will also be promoted amongst independent Chinese travelers via the iOS and Android stores and China’s more popular social media networks.-VNA
