Phnom Penh (VNA) – The governmentsof Cambodia and the US have officially inked an exchange of notes on theaddition of 66.2-million-USD in development grant of the US for Cambodia.

The signing ceremony, which took place on December 15, was presided over byCambodian Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and Vice-Chairman ofthe Council for Development of Cambodia (CDC) Chin Bun Sean, and Veena Reddy, Mission Director at the US Agency forInternational Development (USAID) in Cambodia.

According to the CDC’s press release, 43.3million USD out of the total amount will be spent on supporting public healthand education activities, while the remainder is for projects related to agricultureand the environment.

From 1992 to 2019, the US government provided approximately 1.5 billion USD inassistance, equivalent to 6.1 percent of the total ODA disbursement by alldevelopment partners, to the Southeast Asian country, focusing on prioritysectors such as health, education, environmental protection, agriculture, and governance./.
