Hanoi (VNA) – Vice President DangThi Ngoc Thinh received Kanagawa Governor Kuroiwa Yuji in Hanoi on November 18,applauding her guest’s contributions to relations between the Japaneseprefecture and Vietnamese localities.

Vice President Thinh said Vietnam-Japanrelations are flourishing with increasingly enhanced political trust.

She noted Japan remains one of the leadingpartners of Vietnam as it is the largest ODA supplier as well as an importantinvestor and trade partner of the Southeast Asian nation.

Additionally, the friendship, cooperation andexchanges between Vietnamese and Japanese localities have been expanding andattained substantive outcomes. Labour cooperation, cultural exchanges andpeople-to-people ties have also been strengthened. Vietnamese people arecurrently the third biggest foreign community in Japan, she said.

The Vice President appreciated the KanagawaGovernor’s efforts to promote relations between his prefecture and Vietnameselocalities through practical initiatives and activities, particularly thesuccessful organisation of the annual Vietnam Festival in Kanagawa which, shesaid, has greatly helped to popularise Vietnam’s images to locals and foreignvisitors.

She also applauded the second Kanagawa Festivalin Hanoi on November 16-17, which has helped deepen the two peoples’ mutualunderstanding and trust, expressing her hope that the event will continue inthe years to come.

At the meeting, Thinh asked Governor Kuroiwa toencourage more Kanagawa businesses to invest in the fields with their strengthin like manufacturing, trade, services and agro-forestry-fisheries, affirmingthat Vietnam will create the best possible conditions for them to invest and dobusiness.

She also called on the visiting official toprovide more favourable conditions for Vietnamese people in Kanagawa and tofurther step up cultural and people-to-people exchange.

For his part, Kuroiwa pledged more efforts tofoster substantive cooperation and mutual understanding between the Vietnameseand Japanese, including between people of his prefecture and Vietnameselocalities.

He also showed his support for Kanagawa andHanoi to continue organising and turn the Kanagawa Festival in Hanoi into anannual cultural event.

The official said he believes that the twocountries will keep bolstering multifaceted ties in the coming time, therebycontributing to both sides’ development./.
