Vietnam Airlines to cancel flights on August 2 due to storm Wipha

Vietnam Airlines has announced it will cancel five flights on the route between the northern port city of Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City on August 2 due to storm Wipha, which is forecast to hit waters offshore and inland areas of northern localities from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh on August 2 and 3.

Hanoi (VNA) – The nationalflag carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced it will cancel five flights on the routebetween the northern port city of Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City on August 2due to storm Wipha, which is forecast to hit waters offshore and inland areasof northern localities from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh on August 2 and 3.

Two flights (VN1184 and VN1187)on the route on August 2 will be moved forward to ensure landing in Cat Biairport in Hai Phong before the airport is closed from 12:00 on August 2 to12:00 on August 3.

Two flights on the Da Nang-HaiPhong route (VN1672 and VN1673) on the day will also be cancelled, along withflights VN1286, VN1287 between Van Don airport in the northern coastal provinceof Quang Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City.

On August 3, flight VN1181 onthe Hai Phong-Ho Chi Minh City route will be cancelled, while two others (VN1180and VN1183) will be delayed by about five hours so that the flights will arrivein Hai Phong after 12:00.

To support passengers affectedby the storm, Vietnam Airlines will add one return flight between Da Nang andHanoi and one return flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. It will alsoreplace the normal Airbus A321 with a Boeing 787-9 plane on a return flight onthe Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi route to accommodate more passengers.

Besides, other domestic flightsof Vietnam Airlines may also be affected by the storm, and passengers areadvised to keep themselves updated on the weather forecast and flight scheduleadjustments at the airline’s website www.vietnamairlines.com,its Facebook page www.facebook.com/VietnamAirlines,its customer service call centre at 1900 1100, or ticket agents nationwide.

Storm Wipha, the third to hitVietnam this year, is expected to cause rain, whirlwind and flood in thenortheast, north, and central regions between August 1 and 4, according to theNational Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.-VNA
