Seoul (VNA) – A delegation from the Ministry of National Defence led by Deputy Minister Sen.Lieut.Gen Hoang Xuan Chien is attending the 13th Seoul Defence Dialogue (SDD) from September 10 to 12 at the invitation of the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Korea.
The SDD, a large regional and international forum, has been held since 2012 with the participation of high-ranking officials, and defence and security experts and scholars from countries and international organisations.
The event saw a record attendance this year with 64 countries and over 900 participants, including ministerial-level officials from eight countries, according to The Korea Post.
Themed “Exploring Global Security Challenges and International Cooperation”, the dialogue features three sessions on deterring war and preserving the rules-based international order, building a free, peaceful and prosperous Asia-Pacific region, and handling security crises in a connected world.
On the sidelines of the event, Chien had bilateral meetings with the Korean Deputy Minister of National Defence, the Lao Deputy Minister of National Defence, the Minister of State of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, and the UK Minister of State at the Ministry of Defence, during which they discussed measures to enhance defence cooperation in the coming time.
He also had meetings with representatives from the International Institute for Strategic Issues-Asia, and Singapore's Information Sharing Centre, established under the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia.
