Vietnam attends UN Human Rights Council’s 41st session

Geneva(VNA) – Ambassador Duong Chi Dung, Permanent Representative of the PermanentMission of Vietnam to the United Nations Office, the World Trade Organizationand other international organizations attended the 41st session ofthe United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which opened on June 24 inGeneva.

The session, which will last till July 12, brought together representativesfrom 47 member countries and over 100 observer states, internationalorganizations and non-governmental organizations.

Participants willengage in thematic dialogues, focusing on the rights of women, health care,education rights, human trafficking, and immigration, among others.

They are expected to debate 100 reports of UN experts and engage in thematicworking sessions.

They will discuss the final review of the third cycle of the Universal PeriodicReview (UPR) reports of 14 countries, including Vietnam.

Up to 30 resolutions on cross-cutting human rights issues and human rightssituations in particular countries will be introduced, discussed and adopted.

Vietnam, Bangladesh, and the Philippines will present a draft resolution on therights of persons with disabilities in the context of climate change.-VNA
