Vietnam, Cambodia hold sixth border conference in An Giang
The sixth international conference on building a shared border of peace, friendship and cooperation for development between Vietnam and Cambodia took place in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on September 20.

An Giang (VNA) – The sixth internationalconference on building a shared border of peace, friendship and cooperation fordevelopment between Vietnam and Cambodia took place in the Mekong Deltaprovince of An Giang on September 20.
Held by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committeeand the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodian Motherland (SFDCM), theevent was attended by representatives of 10 Vietnamese provinces bordering Cambodia.
It aimed to review the performance of the two fronts; further intensifythe solidarity, friendship, cooperation; and promote experience exchangebetween them.
In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman and Secretary-Generalof the VFF Central Committee Le Tien Chau said the Vietnam-Cambodia specialsolidarity and comprehensive partnership have been reinforced and expanded,contributing to the national construction and safeguarding in each country.
Chau urged the two counties to further strengthen transportconnectivity and increase investment in developing infrastructure at bordergates.
Vietnam and Cambodia should also double concerted efforts insearching for and repatriating remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers andexperts who died while on duty in Cambodia during the wartime, and better populariselegal documents on the shared border signed between the two nations to pave theway for the completion of the border demarcation and marker planting, he added. Thework has by now been 84% completed.
He also called on the two sides to continue encouraging andconnecting Vietnamese and Cambodian investors to develop infrastructure,economic zones, shopping centres at border gates and checkpoints and promotetourism in order to benefit the two peoples./.
President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin met a delegation of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA), headed by its president Nguyen Thi Thanh, in Hanoi on September 13.
A delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and National Council of the Solidarity Front for Development of the Cambodia on September 19 handed over 10 charitable houses and 300 packages of gifts to households living in extremely difficult circumstances along the Vietnam-Cambodia border.
