Rome (VNA) - The relationship between Vietnam - Italy has recorded strong and fruitful development across sectors with a "vibrant vitality" after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic ties based on the solid foundation of a traditional, sincere and warm friendship, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung has stated.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of Vietnam (September 2) in Italy on September 10, the diplomat highlighted Vietnam's achievements over the past nearly 80 years.

According to Hung, diplomatic activities, delegation exchanges, and cooperation promotion activities in various fields have been vigorously carried out in Italy, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding and the friendship between the two sides, opening important opportunities for all-around cooperation, especially economic ties.

Notably, SACE and Simest, two of Italy's leading financial institutions, have opened offices in Vietnam, facilitating trade and investment between the two countries. Vietnam Airlines is also implementing plans to establish a direct air route to Italy, which is expected to serve as an important catalyst for further strengthening the economic ties between the two sides.

Alessandra Schiavo, a representive from the Italian government, expressed solidarity with Vietnam regarding the loss of life and property that Vietnamese people are enduring after Typhoon Yagi.

She affirmed that the relationship between the two countries is steadily growing and that there are many opportunities to further expand cooperation in strategic areas such as infrastructure, energy, defence, industry, agriculture, and high technology, alongside economics, culture, and justice cooperation.

The meeting of the Vietnam-Italy Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation is to take place in Hanoi in the coming months, and bilateral political consultations at the deputy ministerial level have also been scheduled, Schiavo said, noting that the friendship and solidarity, which have been hallmarks of the relationship between Italy and Vietnam for more than 50 years, will continue to inspire the bilateral relations in the future.

Italian officials and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the European nation praised the relationship between the two countries in recent times.

⭕ Pham Van Hong, Chairman of the Italy-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, who has lived in Italy for over 40 years, said that businesses and friends in Italy express their desire to join Vietnam's economic development efforts./.
