Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) sealed an agreement on satellite monitoring during a ceremony in Hanoi on November 11.

Signatories were General Director of the Ministry of Information and Communications’ Authority of Radio Frequency Management Doan Quang Hoan and Director of the ITU‘s Radiocommunication Bureau Francois Rancy.

Over the past years, the authority has successfully registered Vinasat-1, Vinasat-2, VNRedsat-1 satellite orbits, and micro satellite PicoDragon. It is considering registration for Radar satellite projects, Hoan said at the event.

The first satellite monitoring system in Vietnam was based in Viet Tri city, the northern midland province of Phu Tho, which specialises in regularly monitoring domestic satellites and others in Vietnam’s territory.

Another similar system is scheduled to be built in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

🐷 Hoan affirmed that the cooperation agreement will help Vietnam engage deeper in radiocommunication activities and also help the ITU use global radio frequency resources effectively.

According to Rancy, Vietnam’s satellite monitoring system could connect with the world’s, making it easier for the country to improve its capacity for protecting satellites as well as professional competence of satellite monitoring staff.-VNA
